Reading Readiness Mentorship

Because reading is a major predictor of academic success, AUHS Foundation has partnered with local elementary schools in the cities of Long Beach and Signal Hill to provide reading tutors to at-risk youths.  By providing personalized attention, inner-city youths have a change to improve their literacy rate.  Student volunteers from American University of Health Sciences are paired up with at risk kids identified by our partner elementary school counselors.  These partnerships require a minimum of 6 months commitment during the school calendar year.
