Giving Thanks Brunch for the Homeless
As we near Thanksgiving Day, American University of Health Sciences Foundation hosts a day of giving and serving. American University of Health Sciences students, faculty and staff volunteer to provide traditional Thanksgiving Day meals the homeless and needy low-income families. This is our way of giving back and to share God’s blessings to our brothers and sisters who are not able to afford a good meal during this holiday season. In addition to a hot Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings–mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, turkey slices, fried chicken, bread rolls, pumpkin pie—sleeping bags, cold weather gear, and hygiene kits are distributed to the homeless to provide them a way to weather the elements during the cold winter months.
“Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry; And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?” -Isaiah 58:7
