PPE Donation

During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) were in short supply for frontline health providers treating seriously ill patients infected by the SARS-CoV-19 virus, a highly infectious virus, that causes COVID-19 respiratory disease.  Many reports came out that doctors, nurses and other allied health professionals were reusing PPEs meant for one-time use.  AUHS Foundation responded to the shortage of PPEs by purchasing and collecting donations from its network of suppliers: 1,100 face shields, tens of thousands of diposable face masks, nitrile gloves and KN95 masks that it donated to local hospitals in need.  In addition, fabric masks and face shields were donated to LBDHHS, Long Beach Shelters and LBUSD schools.
