Youth Enrichment in Science! (YES!)

The YES! Program is a community outreach program aimed at exposing underrepresented children to careers in the health sciences, providing them with healthcare knowledge and hands-on experience, and encouraging health literacy.  The AUHS library partners with Signal Hill elementary school to provide presentations and activities that focus on various aspects of health: nutrition, anatomy, and first aid.  The program also includes a component that focuses on Nursing as a career, as well as medical librarianship.

Purpose:

• To encourage minority youth interest in the medical and science fields.
• Provide healthcare knowledge and hands-on experience to community.
• Encourage the community to read and access scientific and medical information.
