AUHS Foundation Donates Masks & Hand Sanitizers to Jackie Robinson Academy
The AUHS Foundation made a gracious donation of 2,000 surgical and non-surgical disposable masks, and a bulk supply of hand sanitizers to Jackie Robinson Academy of Long Beach. Serving K-8 students, the Jackie Robinson Academy is an institution within the Long Beach Unified School District. Ms. Lieu Suss, the Program Director of the AUHS Foundation, provided the donation on March 5, 2021 to Ms. Rima Hosn, the primary school counselor for the academy. After a long year of online education, LBUSD elementary schools are scheduled to begin some in-person instructions. In preparation to receive students back on campus, Ms. Hosn will be organizing care packages for teachers and staff who are returning to work. Extra masks will be given to students who arrive at school without one. Additionally, as part of the foundation’s integral tutoring program, the AUHS Foundation is excited to explore ways to expand its tutoring program to students at Jackie Robinson Academy. The AUHS Foundation hopes to assign nursing and pharmacy students from the American University of Health Sciences to offer in-person, social distancing tutoring services to enrolled students, as this will help enhance their subject studies and homework assignments. With the support from the local community, the AUHS Foundation will continue its mission to be a helping hand to underserved and vulnerable populations.
